COOK COUNTY LAKE COOK ROAD
Honorable Toni Preckwinkle, President
Cook County Board of Commissioners
Jennifer “Sis” Killen, Superintendent
Department of Transportation & Highways
Lake Cook Road from Raupp Boulevard to Hasting Lane is currently open to one lane in each direction with dedicated left turn lanes at each intersection. Daily lane shifts are expected in the next couple of weeks to complete work at each intersection. Be alert when traveling through the work zone and expect delays.
St Mary’s Parkway will be closed between Buffalo Grove Road and Navajo Trail starting October 5 to October 26, 2021. Please use the signed detour routes to access St Mary’s Parkway from Buffalo Grove Road.
The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (DOTH) goes beyond transportation; accelerating economic growth and fostering thriving communities by promoting and investing in our region.
With this mission in mind, the Cook County DOTH is leading the effort to deliver the Cook County Lake Cook Road Reconstruction Project.
Marking the border between Cook and Lake Counties, Lake Cook Road is a major east-west corridor serving several communities and over 40,000 daily vehicle trips.
Currently, automobile traffic congestion and safety issues for both pedestrians and cyclists have guided Cook County DOTH’s plans for upgrading the Lake Cook Road corridor between Hastings Lane in Wheeling and Raupp Boulevard in Buffalo Grove.
The project will widen this heavily traveled corridor, adding one lane in each direction and dedicated turn lanes at each intersection. Additional improvements will occur along Buffalo Grove Road, McHenry Road (IL-83) and Weiland Road as part of this project. A detailed map of the project area below provides an overall view of the project area.
The Cook County Lake Cook Road Reconstruction Project will provide:
